Is there a magic amount of time to pray? If I pray for 4 hours vs. 15 minutes, does God answer my prayers faster or better? Read on for our Friday prompt from #theFives…
“But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
-1 Samuel 16:7
God doesn’t look at the outward, but the inward. Prayer, for Him, is about how your heart is engaged, not the amount of time. With that said, remember this: the more your heart is invested with Jesus, the more time you will talk with him.
Rather than looking at prayer as part of a checklist for your day, I challenge you to view it through the eyes of God. He sees prayer as a chance to develop a real relationship with him, no timer needed. Whether a heart-felt shout out, or a dedicated 3 hours, God wants to hear from you regularly.
Let’s pray:
1.) If prayer is a priority, you will make time for it. (Matthew 6:21) Ask God to give you passionate heart for prayer! He can help it become personal for you.
2.) How is God saying to incorporate prayer into your day after these 5 weeks? Listen in prayer and write down your thoughts on keeping consistent after #theFives ends.
3.) Ask God for a fresh look forward at your weekend. Ask for renewed rest. Congrats on your first week!!
