“Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart.”
Psalm 119:34
I love the prayer of the psalmist in this passage. They totally get it! They are asking for a deep, personal understanding of God so they may follow the rules and obey Him in everything. Why is this important? Because grasping the heart of God is essential to running a good Christian race!
The last word of the verse speaks to me: with all my HEART. Not head. HEART. If we continue to look at God’s commands and requests as a checklist to accomplish, we will miss it. The head wants accomplishment, but the heart wants relationship.
We have one more day, but the adventure doesn’t end with #theFives. Being #refined is an every day occurrence and it is your choice how much you allow in your own life. Make sure to join us for the Good Ground teaching and invite your friends!
**If you have benefitted from this session of #theFives, would you consider donating to our non-profit ministry? If each person who participated in #theFives this session donated just $5, we would be fully-funded! Think about it- that is just $1 week, just .20 a day for all the content, accountability, and leadership you have received. I’d say that’s an insanely good price! Let’s Pray:
1.) Remember back in week one when we connected the head and heart? How has God done that for you these past 5 weeks? How can you engage with God in a new way after #theFives ends?
2.) Our relationship with God looks different for each individual. Ask God what it looks like for you. Is this different than what you thought it would look like or currently looks like?
3.) Write a letter to God describing how YOU see HIM. Putting words on paper can reveal our true understanding of what He means to us.
