“As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God. For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ.“
2 Corinthians 9:13 CSB
This week we have discussed gifts that God entrusted to us. Gifts also include our finances and resources. If we understand our finances are truly from God alone and not a result of our own works, we will allow Him to guide our steps in how to manage our money. If we don’t truly believe God will provide for our every need, we will view our abilities and bank account as our providers. This can result in spending our money to fulfill our own desires and neglect the needs of others.
In 2 Corinthians, Paul explains how God is able to supply our needs while also multiplying what we are obedient to give. God asks us to first “tithe” (giving at least a tenth of your income) to our church, then “give” anywhere else He leads. If we are faithful in these two things, finances will no longer be a burden. God will turn them into a tool for you to care for your family and love others. Allowing God to be in charge of our money not only provides for us, but it also points others to Jesus.
Let’s Pray:
1.) Are you giving a tithe to your local church? Take a minute to calculate the first 10% of your paycheck. Pray over that amount. If you are not yet giving, commit to start tithing this week. If you already give, ask God to multiply what you have given.
2.) Where else is God asking you to give? Write down any ministries or charities you are passionate about, as well as individuals who may need a financial blessing.
3.) What are your financial goals — give more, save more, spend less? Make a reasonable goal that you could achieve. Share your goal with your group.
We do tithe to our church, and City union mission. (Our local homeless shelter) Im not working, so i serve. I actually made a two week commitment to serve at Camp cumcitio summer camp.(City union mission summer camp) its a great blessing for me to be able to see the little faces enjoying something , that if zGod did not afford for people to participate, they likely would not otherwise be able to enjoy such happiness! I love that God placed this at our feet 3 years ago. My goal is to keep focused on how the Lord is calling me to serve, thats how i give back.
I am praying God keep revealing to you where to serve. This is great!
